Day 2 at London Fashion Week AW15
Day 2 at London Fashion Week AW15
Written by our official blogger - Poppy Dinsey
After a fabulous start to LFW yesterday (read all about it here) we were all excited about another day of working backstage at Fashion Scout. The TONI&GUY Session Team were working on lots of shows - as always! - but I was off to Judy Wu as my first show of the day.
International Artistic Director Maria Galati was heading up the hair team and creating a look which could be best described as “a look of two halves”.
Judy’s collection referenced the old and new of Shanghai, with the traditional romantic side contrasted against the sleek and modern. She took inspiration from tales from her grandmother as well as her own memories of Shanghai as a child.
Maria used this idea for the hair, creating a textured romantic side and a more sleek and polished side, all coming into a pony tail tied with neon shoelaces to reference the colour details in the collection and the sports luxe edge to the clothes.
label.m Resurrection Style Dust and label.m Hairspray were the key products used to create the look, but don’t take my word for it…you can hear Maria herself describe the hair click here.
From there I went to see what International Artistic Director Indira Schauwecker was creating backstage at Apu Jan.
For this collection, Apu Jan was taking us into the woods. There were fairytale references and everything had a slightly dark edge, with the idea of a girl wandering the forest and her imagination running wild, seeing whimsical creatures lurking in the shadows.
The show utilised 3D printed hair accessories based on antler shapes, so Indira was tasked with coming up with a hairstyle that would show off these accessories and keep that idea of a girl wandering in the woods.
A slightly dishevelled bun was created, with lots of label.m Resurrection Style Dust to create a soft dusty feel as you might expect in an enchanted forest.
Luckily we have the video from the show already, so you can hear from Indira and Apu themselves and watch the models on the catwalk to get the full idea of the completed look…
From there I headed over to Somerset House and the on-site TONI&GUY salon to get a Fashion Fix. Having seen so many contrasting textures at the AW15 shows I thought I’d opt for something similar with the Glam Undercut.
This is one of my all time favourite Fashion Fix looks and I am always amazed it can be done in half an hour and for just £25! Definitely check out the Fashion Fix service at your local TONI&GUY salon…but be warned, they’re addictive!
A big thank you to Stayce Symes from TONI&GUY Taunton for creating mine!
For my last show of the day I was off to see what celeb favourite Zeynep Kartal had in store for us.
International Artistic Director Mattia Esposito was heading up the team and I was excited to see lots of the GILES X label.m bottles being used backstage!
label.m Volume Mousse and label.m Hairspray were the key products being used to create the red carpet friendly sleek ponytails.
Getting a perfectly uniform centre parting across all the models was arguably the trickiest part of this hair look according to Mattia, so a label.m Metal End Tail Comb was essential for creating this precise look.
It was a truly stunning show and the perfect way to end Day 2 of LFW. We even had esteemed guests from TONI&GUY Pakistan join us for this show, as well as previous London Hairdresser of The Year winner Carl McCaffrey from Retail Salon Of The Year 2014 TONI&GUY Canary Wharf.
Another fab day!
