Day 2 Vodafone London Fashion Weekend

22.02.2014

With the gleaming sun out in full glory and shining over the historic setting of Somerset house, doors opened at 11am and the atmosphere was simply electric from start to finish.

All around, the terraces were buzzing with fashionistas having travelled  from all over the UK and happily sipping on chilled Scavi & Ray Prosecco  - dressed to impress in a style mix of gorgeous summer dresses, furs, vertiginous heels and not forgetting those all essential sunglasses!

Our label.m Makeover area had never been busier and I was really inspired, so ladies if you 're after volume, texture and hold the new label.m  Texturizing Volume Spray is a must-have and perfectly complements the ‘Bardot Beehive ‘ Fashion Fix as the perfect way to show off our new and exclusive Giles for label.m sunglasses coming soon!

Later, I headed backstage  to where the action was to meet the International Artistic Team, who were working on the hair story for the Nicole Farhi show.  Head of Team Philipp Haug , talked me through the inspiration for the look that he summed up as - 'separated, smooth  fringe with a contemporary edge'.  This being a clean, polished look which worked in juxtaposition to the laid-back luxe designs for the Farhi SS14 collection.

Using the favourite backstage must-have label.m Volume Mousse, models were given dual-texture with hair taken into a distressed low sweep fringe, showing separated strands of hair . Tucked behind ears, this was quite natural in feel with the back worn loose.  A perfect understated elegance, luxurious yet totally accessible look for which  Nicole Farhi is renowned for.

A key feature of this look was the top of the head, where copious amounts of label.m Hairspray (another backs tage favourite), had been applied to create a virtual 'wet look'  finish.

As the sun started to set over London, on came the lights and music at Somerset House where the vibrant atmosphere of the day continued right through to closing time at 8pm.

There were long queues where guests waited for the anticipated Trend shows in order to immerse themselves in this season’s looks. Given the current weather, ‘Flower Power’ was one of the  key talking points as seen at shows such as Erdem, Jonathan Saunders and Preen  - who all put on a display of beautiful blossoms on the catwalk  from: oversized motifs and delicate looking poses - this was
defiantly a spring awakening.

You'd think after all this excitement what more could possibly  be happening? But with curiosity getting the better of me, I quickly popped backstage once again to see how the prep for tomorrow's Julien MacDonald show was going and got a sneaky preview of the absolutely gorgeous collection, (pic) as the models were getting fitted (pic) and all I can say about this collection is sheer glamour and serious bodycon ....
I can't wait for the show, can you ?? Check out tomorrow's post to see more!
